A Health Ministry inspector poured bleach over pots full of food in a Sudanese restaurant in Tel Aviv Sunday night.
The inspector, from the ministry’s district office for Tel Aviv, was participating in a raid by police and municipal inspectors on illegal businesses owned by African migrants. Altogether, the raid shut down 10 businesses in the city’s Neveh Sha’anan neighborhood, confiscating their equipment and welding the doors shut. The equipment was then loaded onto vans by other African migrants who had been hired as contract workers.
Many diners saw the inspector pouring bleach on the food, and one, asylum-seeker Aladin Abaker from Sudan’s Darfur region, posted photos of the incident on his Facebook page. He also described his feelings of humiliation.
“Everyone − except the destroyers − was in tears from the humiliation,” he wrote. “The waitress told us, ‘I’ve seen very harsh things in my life, like torture in Sinai, but this humiliated me more than what happened to me in Sinai.”
Abaker accused the inspector of “insensitivity to people and their culture, which sees food as a sacred thing that must be respected,” and said the raid was aimed at “embittering our lives so we’ll return to Africa ‘voluntarily.’”
Altogether, he said, more than 200 kilograms of meat, chicken and fish and over 500 prepared meals were destroyed.
The inspectors said they didn’t know where the meat came from and therefore feared for the diners’ health, Abaker wrote. “We told them: But this is the only place we’ve eaten all our meals for four years now, and none of us ever had stomach problems. Even whites eat here.”
The Health Ministry responded that inspectors had discovered “deplorable sanitary conditions, food stored under unsuitable conditions and temperatures, and food from unknown sources. In order to preserve the public’s health and that of the diners themselves, it was decided to destroy the food immediately. As part of the process of destroying the food, chemicals suitable to this purpose are used. It should be noted that this was a routine process of food destruction that is no different from other destructions of food/meat.”
Tel Aviv’s deputy city manager, Ruby Zelof, said the raids were carried out “to eradicate the undesirable phenomenon of businesses operating illegally, with sanitation and safety problems and illegal connections to electricity and water, and sales of alcoholic beverages without permits.”

Israel is deporting Africans and also planning to put tens of thousands into detention camps.
Knesset Member Miri Regev — a member of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Likud Party — called the refugees “a cancer in our body” and Danny Danon — also a Likud Knesset Member — wrote on his Facebook page referring to the Africans as “infiltrators”. Interior Minister Eli Yishai said the African asylum seekers threaten “the Zionist dream,” adding, “Jobs will root them here.”

Here, where it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE for there are more Black trans women or Latin@ trans women around than white ones.
This means that people are going around PURPOSELY AIMING for a MINUTE part of the population. By minute, I mean that if we assume maybe .75% of the US is trans women, going by racial statistics, about 30% of those is Black and Latin@ trans women, we’re left with all of .24% of the fucking population between them. SEVENTY-SEVEN PERCENT OF THAT WAS BLACK WOMEN. Meaning MOST OF THAT VIOLENCE is going toward fucking .098% or somewhere abouts of the fucking population.

You’re talking about my sturdy ass.
Because when in doubt, make an issue of something the person can’t change. I am a product of your culture that wanted Black folk who could do physical work. I don’t see y’all treating German women the same, yo. I guess blonde hair and blue eyes makes it all “okay”.
Similarly, when you talk about genetic factors for Native women, various types of Asian/Pacific Islander women, and Latinas (amongst others) in your white-ass terms, you fail. I am none of these things and cannot speak to those experiences, but i bet that plenty of people have and y’all just ignored it.

TELL ETSY TO STOP PROFITING FROM PROHIBITED ITEMS
Etsy is refusing to follow the policies that they implemented for themselves two years ago (2011) that would prohibit the sale of “…items that promote, support, or glorify hatred toward or otherwise demean people based upon: race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation…” read the rest in the prohibited section here.
The policy prohibiting these items came into effect on January 2011. Read the announcement here.
The items most strongly in question are Golliwog Dolls or are Golliwog related. They have been reported numerous times to Etsy’s integrity team, however the over 70 items in question remain on the sites of Etsy’s various merchants, many of whom hand make these Golliwog items to order and are not vintage.
The Golliwog is characterized by jet black skin, bulging white-rimmed eyes, disproportionately big red lips and a shock of black frizzy hair and is essentially a “minstrel doll”. Writer Enid Blyton adapted the Gollywog to her Noddy books. They were consistently horribly ugly black creatures who were rude and nasty and always villains. More on that here and here.
In May of 2012 the San Francisco chapter of the NAACP attempted to reach out to Etsy only to receive this response:
“…our members come from all walks of life, and may hold differing opinions of the legitimate collectibility of certain types of historical items.”
Perhaps one of the most disturbing aspects of this issue is that that one would be hard pressed to find racist items of any other demographic on Etsy, which begs the question, Why is it okay to sell items that dehumanize and denigrate those that fall into the category of ‘black people’; and would there be the same lack of response were these items offensive toward the LGBTQQ community, or Asian community, or any demography that is “more likely” to be shopping or selling on Etsy?
Etsy receives $0.20 for every item listed on their site by merchants and they collect a 3.5% fee on the sale of every item, racist or not. Since Etsy has failed to address this issue it may be safe to assume that they have no scruples about profiting from the very items they prohibit.
Please help us tell Etsy to follow their own policies and stop profiting off of PROHIBITED ITEMS.
