How I learned to tag my gifs.

For people who suffer from seizures, it’s important that all users properly tag their gifs. It’s not difficult to do. Most people I’ve seen requesting the tags only ask that they’re tagged #gif. However, especially for those of us with missing e, it can be difficult to start the habit of tagging gifs. First of all, the mild inconvenience to you is not an excuse for not properly tagging gifs. Not only are you making tumblr less accessible to people who suffer from seizures, but you’re putting their safety at risk.

So, I just figured I’d share for everyone how I learned how to start tagging my gifs. I should probably say that I’m not perfect at tagging gifs yet, but through this super simple method, I’ve vastly improved and I’m getting better and better about it. It’s simple psychology really: you just have to intentionally form the habit.

  1. Resolve that you’ll start tagging your gifs.
  2. Purposely go through your dash and find gifs. Reblog them with the proper tags. Do this four more times.
  3. Every time you remember that you’re supposed to be tagging gifs, find five gifs on your dash and reblog them with the proper tags.
  4. If you reblog a gif and remember that you should’ve tagged it, go back and edit it. You’ll learn to avoid the inconvenience of having to go back and edit your posts.

This method worked for me, so I hope it’ll work for other people as well. Keep tumblr accessible. Tag your gifs!
