The Anaheim Protests: Why protesting Police Brutality is Important

Several days ago, two people known as Manuel Angel Diaz and Joel Acevedo were killed by police in Anaheim. Diaz was shot dead during a police chase while he was unarmed. Acevedo was shot dead the following day. Police said that he was a suspect in a car robbery; however the circumstances around his death remain unconfirmed.
Ever since these two deaths, the people of Anaheim have been taking to the streets in order to protest these acts of police brutality. They have been met with hostility by the police as seen in this video.

This is a News Report on the Anaheim protests. In it, Police have fired beanbags, rubber bullets, and unleashed a K9 in a crowd of parents and children. The K9 attacked a woman who was with her child. She was scratched by the dog’s teeth, and the dog attacked her stroller. Four different people said that the Police offered to buy their footage for unspecified reasons.
This incident has rocked the community of Anaheim to it’s core, and everyone is speaking out on it. Even children have have given their testimonies to the actions of the police during the protests. You can see those testimonies here:

Now that I have given as much facts as I can, I’d just like to say that police brutality is something that heavily affects PoC. If you’re one of those people that thought that this only happened “in the past” then I shall politely ask you to wake up. This is a reality for to many of us, and we have rarely gotten justice for these actions. If you can, please spread the word, protest, signal boost, and keep yourself aware.
